I was in class yesterday, Sociology 100, to be exact. The instructor had already informed us two days before that she was a Feminist. I am also a supporter of Feminism, that is the traditional form of it. Not the radical form that many practice today.
Anyway, this woman goes on to talk about freedom of thought. Pretty good discussion topic, right? Not wither. She transitions into the topic of religion, Christianity in particular. She has said that she doesn’t really do the whole religion thing, which is fine. What isn’t fine is that she went on to say that at least Protestants are allowed some freedom of thought as opposed to Catholics.
Continuing on her rant, she stated that the Catholic Church is evil, oppresses women, and needs to be stopped. Yes, you read that right. The oppression of women isn’t the only thing that needs to be stopped, but the Catholic Church should CEASE TO EXIST.
The worst part of this whole thing is that I saw people agreeing with this woman! If she had said ANY of that about Islam or Judaism, she would have been reported and fired, but because it’s Christianity and we’re in America, it’s fine.
It seems funny to me that in today’s society, she would be considered a poster child for open-mindedness while I, who am tolerant of everyone else’s beliefs, am considered closed-minded simply for belonging to the “evil” that is the Catholic Church.
